August Wrap Up

Disclaimer: I was going to include photos, but the APP has not been working for me for the last few days. I wanted to get this up, so please forgive the very wordy format.

I am SUPER bad at following TBRs

I had planned to read as much Harry Potter as I could during August. Well, I read 1.5 of it. And then went on to some other stuff. It wasn’t the best reading month. (I feel like I have been saying that all summer). Really this year has just been filled with okay reads. But that is neither here nor there for this post. Let’s just get into what I read in August, going from least favorite up to favorite.

The Third Mrs. Durst – – Ann Aguirre

I have a whole review HERE. The short of it is, this was not for me. I would have DNF’ed this had it not been an ARC for Netgalley. I can not think if one redeemable quality of this book. Proceed with caution if you choose to read this. I gave it 2 stars.

Lock Every Door – – Riley Sager

I was disappointed in this book. I love the other RIley Sager books, and this felt very far removed from them. You can read more of my thoughts HERE. Not a terrible book, but just not my favorite from him. 2.5 Stars

The Death of Mrs. Westaway – – Ruth Ware

This was my first Ruth Ware book. It was fine. I don’t have many thoughts on this. It was an average read. Not terrible but not the best mystery I have ever read. The audiobook of this was just okay. I ended up switching to physically reading and it seemed much better. I will probably end up reading more Ruth Ware, but I am in no rush to do so. I gave this 3 Stars

Fix Her Up – – Tessa Bailey

This was my smutty read of the month. It was fine. It did what it was suppose to do, be a fun, romance read. I have a full review HERE. I am not a big romance reader, so really I don’t know what I am talking about when I review it. It was fun, not my usual read. I will probably continue on in the series as it comes out. The audiobook is good and they are quick reads. I gave this 3 Stars

Before She Knew Him – – Peter Swanson

I LOVE everything I have read by Peter Swanson and this was no different. His book are just the perfect thrillers in my opinion. Spoiler, I have another of his books on my TBR for this month. If you want to read my gush over how great this book is, you can read my review HERE. A solid 4 Stars.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers’ Stone – – J.K. Rowling

Instead of reading all of Harry this month, I decided to read the first three by October, for the release of the fourth illustrated edition. What can I say except Harry Potter is life. I will never stop loving this series. And I hope one day, I can convince my nephews to read them. A very very solid 5 Stars given.

Six books read for the month. Not bad. I can’t wait for the Fall. That’s when I really amp up the reading!

Did you read any of these recently? What else did you read? Let’s chat in the comments. I am always looking for book recommendations.
